Why they were chosen
By unanimous Council decision on 3 February 2022 the Municipality crowned an 'authentic carnival woman' of satire: Vera Efthymiou Parlalidou has taken part since 1985 with satirical groups and floats (her first political-satire float won first prize), performed with her satirical crew at the hotel carnival balls of the city's heyday, and for 15 years has run the Municipality's carnival-mask exhibition and workshop. 'Satire is at the heart of the Limassol Carnival, which is why her coronation is well deserved.' She came as the Good Witch 'to chase the coronavirus out of our lives'.
Who they are
Architect with a substantial body of visual art. Since 1985 (or 1986, as she says) in satirical groups and floats; mask maker; runs the mask exhibitions/workshops in the Municipality's programme. In 2023 she handed the reign to Dimitris Giannakou. Age not published.
The float and the entrance to the city
No parades (pandemic): coronation ceremony at the Pattichio Municipal Theatre, live-streamed; took the throne from King Lemesios Giorgos Nikolaou; Good Witch costume.
