Why they were chosen
Miltos Papadopoulos is one of 'the souls of the Limassol carnival': a man of the pellomaska (traditional mask), of teasing and satire, with decades of carnival crews and satirical appearances. Mayor Andreas Christou chose him as King for 2011. To stand out he did the unexpected: he dressed as the Queen of the Amazons, Hippolyta, and entered the city with a large court of friends. The year's theme was 'Limassol in Disguise'.
Who they are
Well-known Limassol carnival figure and satirist; close friend ('brother') of Dimis Mavropoulos. In 2024 he ran as an independent candidate for Mayor of Limassol under the slogan 'Limassol, my love'. He still parades on a float with satirical skits with his crew; honoured by the Municipality on 10/2/2026. Profession/age not given in sources.
The float and the entrance to the city
Entered as 'Queen of the Amazons' with a court of friends, Tsiknopempti 24 February 2011; year theme 'Limassol in Disguise'; 90+ groups and 6 kantadoroi floats in the grand parade.
'The spirit of carnival is not made by the parade.'
